I Love You, Mommy
Of all the screen shots I've taken over these many weeks, this one is still my favorite. May 19, 2011, Pip was 13 days old. Notice how her wings are already beginning to change colour and just the wee bit of tail is beginning to come in.
I must confess, I left a lot of the nest "decor" out of this painting as I didn't want it to detract from the moment of maternal love and bonding between Violet and Pip.

May 6, 2011 A Star is Born
A day that many said would never arrive, just has! Amidst miscalculated lay dates and fear of unviability, a miraculous event has occurred on this beautiful Manhattan Friday! One of Violet & Bobby's eggs has finally hatched!
What a wonderfully jubilant day this is for us all ... after all these weeks of anticipation; all these days of stead-fast hope, despite the nay-saying of so-called "experts" the newest member of the 2011 Bobst family has finally arrived on the ledge!

Last of the "nesting" paintings
Bobby relaxes and reads the Saturday, April 30, 2011 New York Times as he gives Violet a much needed break!
Although Bobby provides food for Violet while she is one the nest, she does need to have a little "personal" time for herself to stretch her wings and her cramped legs ... and perhaps to even do a little hunting for herself!

****When I first painted Bobby's snazzy sunglasses, I was afraid of making the tint of the lenses too dark, as I didn't want to detract from his gorgeous eyes! However, it was brought to my attention, by a very observent Chat Room member that Bobby shouldn't need reading glasses, he has "hawk eyes." A brilliantly astute point, Jeff, thank you! So, I have darkened the lenses, making them more obvious "shades" needed to cut the sun's glare on the New York Times!****
Violet uses her New York University, Class of 2011 umbrella to protect herself and her clutch of eggs from the spring thunder storms in Manhattan.
**** To My Very Dear Friends, "Live From the Nest" Chat Room Co-Conspirators and Fellow Pipaholics,
Please, don't ever hesitate to let me know when you spot something amiss or questionable in one of my paintings! You are my test subjects for this book, you know -- after all, y'all put me up to it, so your comments as well as your critiques are always welcomed and appreciated!

Violet Warms & Protects Her Clutch, Day and Night
Violet sleeps peacefully on a warm, spring Manhattan night. Always the watchful mother, Violet makes sure her clutch of eggs is warmed and protected no matter the weather!
Sunshine and happiness brighten a lovely spring morning in Manhattan as Violet continues nesting -- eagerly counting down the days until her babies begin to pip -- alerting her to their approaching arrival!

Watermark - Poiema Creations
Poiema Creations - is my personal "watermark" or signature for copyright purposes.
Unfortunately, many artists have had their works "stolen" and used by others for their own purposes, with no credit or financial compensation given to the actual artist. Therefore, the watermark was established.
I chose "Poiema Creations" for my personal watermark because I believe that God has given me this talent to compensate for my disabilities. Through my art, I can be productive and contribute to society. Through my art, I can both learn and teach. Through my art, I can Glorify Him and Praise Him for all His many wondrous blessings in my life. I thank God for allowing me to use this talent to create this Children's book. A book of fun art and learning, for all ages!
It is placed across the center of each painting to show that this painting is my property and is not to be copied for any use without my express permission. This is a digital signature artists and photographers use to protect their works when posting them online.
